The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, has charged operatives of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to uphold professionalism and operate within the law after completing a three-day training.

The training, held from April 21 to 23, 2026, was organised in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to strengthen the unit’s capacity to respond effectively to violent crimes.

Modules covered included human rights and policing, weapon handling, community policing strategies, and modern investigation techniques.

Addressing the operatives at the command headquarters, Fage warned against human rights abuses, extortion, and unprofessional conduct, stressing the need for intelligence-driven operations and collaboration with the public.

He also urged residents to provide timely information to support police efforts, reiterating the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through a professional and people-friendly approach.
