NDLEA Arrests Notorious Drug Kingpin 12 Years After Alleged Killing of Three Officers

By Katsina Times

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a notorious drug kingpin who had been on the run for 12 years over his alleged involvement in the killing of three NDLEA officers during an operation in 2014.

The suspect, identified as Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” was apprehended on January 16, 2026, in Owode, Ogun State, following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance by NDLEA operatives.

According to the agency, Jimoh allegedly mobilised armed associates who attacked NDLEA officers during an attempted arrest in June 2014, leading to the death of three personnel, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure. Since then, the suspect had evaded arrest and remained a high-profile fugitive.

During the latest operation that led to his arrest, NDLEA operatives reportedly recovered 69 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis, from his hideout.

Confirming the development, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said the arrest marked a major breakthrough in the agency’s long-standing pursuit of justice for its slain officers. He described the operation as a clear demonstration of NDLEA’s resolve to track down and prosecute individuals involved in drug trafficking and violent crimes against law enforcement personnel.

Babafemi added that the suspect would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations.

The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no criminal, regardless of how long they evade the law, escapes justice.
