Hon. (Dr.) Ifeanyichukwu Anthony Ibezi, a former Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Tertiary Education and Services in the 9th National Assembly, has officially resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal injustice, impunity, and marginalization within the party.

In a resignation letter dated July 15, 2025, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Abatete Ward, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Dr. Ibezi announced his immediate withdrawal from the party.

Dr. Ibezi explained that his decision followed recent developments in the Anambra State chapter of the APC, particularly what he described as an "unjust and procedurally flawed" one-year suspension issued without fair hearing.

"Despite being officially invited to appear before the party’s State disciplinary committee on April 17, 2025, I was shocked to wake up on April 11, 2025—six days before the scheduled hearing—to see a suspension letter already signed by the State Secretary of the party and circulating online,” he said.

He condemned the action as a gross violation of internal democracy and fairness, accusing the party leadership in the state of sidelining committed members and suppressing dissenting voices.

"Beyond this singular incident, the prevailing culture of impunity, disregard for due process, and deliberate marginalization of dedicated party members... has made it impossible for me to continue to participate meaningfully in the affairs of the party," the former lawmaker added.

Dr. Ibezi, who represented Idemili North/South Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, expressed pride in his contributions to the APC over the years, including ensuring a strong presence of the party in his constituency and helping deliver notable electoral successes.

He wished the party well in its future endeavors and expressed hope that it would return to its founding principles of democracy and internal discipline.

The APC is yet to issue an official response to his resignation at the time of filing this report.
