The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the reconstitution of the management board of Kano Pillars Football Club, with the appointment of Nigerian international footballer Ahmed Musa as the club’s new General Manager.
The move follows the expiration of the one-year tenure earlier granted to the previous board, which oversaw the team’s 9th-place finish in the just-concluded Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision to retain most of the outgoing board members came after a series of consultations with key stakeholders. Strategic changes were also made to enhance the club’s competitiveness ahead of the new season.
The newly approved board is chaired by Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara), with 15 other members drawn from diverse backgrounds. Two media directors, Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash, were also named.
In what is seen as a major boost to the club’s profile and performance prospects, the board proposed and received approval for the appointment of Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa as General Manager. Musa, who has played at the highest levels of international football and previously featured for the club, is expected to bring his vast experience and leadership to reposition the team.
The Kano State Government expressed optimism that the reconstituted board would consolidate on past achievements and steer the club to greater success in the coming NPFL season.
