The Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawan Dare, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector, assuring that all funds received from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) will be used transparently and responsibly.
The governor made this known during a courtesy visit to UBEC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, where he congratulated the Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, on her recent appointment.
During the meeting, Dr. Lawan Dare expressed the state government’s gratitude for UBEC’s continued support in the ongoing efforts to overhaul the education system in Zamfara.
He noted that before the current administration, Zamfara ranked lowest in all indices of education, prompting his decision to declare a state of emergency in the sector on November 20, 2023.
“I assured the commission that every Kobo received from UBEC will be accounted for, and our financial dealings will remain open to scrutiny,” the governor said.
He further emphasized that the Zamfara State government is fully prepared to fulfill any counterpart funding requirements for future education programs, stressing that the funds are already available for immediate use.
