Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has advanced his administration's infrastructure agenda through high-level talks with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) during an international investment summit in Macao, China.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the 16th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum & Exhibition, where Governor Radda led a Katsina State delegation at the invitation of CCECC.

At a strategic site meeting with CCECC Managing Director, Cheng Sichang, Governor Radda commended the corporation’s ongoing work in the state. He cited the successful completion of the 24-kilometre Eastern Bypass and the near-completion of the Kiddies–Kofar Soro road as key milestones under Katsina’s urban renewal programme.

Radda revealed plans to unveil two new legacy projects and finalize compensation for residents affected by demolition exercises. He stressed the need to complete all ongoing urban infrastructure projects before the upcoming elections, while calling on CCECC to support the state with modern technology tools to enhance construction works, especially in the model secondary schools being built across senatorial zones.

“We seek CCECC’s assistance on technology tools to enhance these projects as part of your corporate social responsibility,” the Governor appealed.

On the Katsina–Kano Road project, Radda disclosed plans to initiate talks with the Federal Ministry of Works to fast-track its delivery.

In his remarks, CCECC Managing Director Cheng Sichang reiterated the company’s commitment to Katsina State and Nigeria at large. He highlighted past achievements, including the Abuja–Kaduna railway and the completion of Katsina Stadium in 2006. He also noted the corporation’s delivery of the Daura Emirate road, Transport University, and support for over 1,000 student scholarships.

Sichang emphasized the strategic importance of the Eastern Bypass as a key component for Katsina’s planned industrial park and pledged support for the Zobe water supply project.

Earlier, Governor Radda joined world leaders and top investors at the forum, themed “Enhanced Connectivity for Win-win Cooperation.” The event brought together representatives from various countries, including China, Nigeria, Thailand, Kenya, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Nicaragua.

The Governor also attended the launch of the 2025 Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index and the Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Infrastructure Development Index. These indexes assess global infrastructure trends and opportunities.

Governor Radda’s delegation included his wife, Hajiya Fatimah Dikko Radda; Lead Consultant Haroun Abba Gana; and Principal Private Secretary, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji.

CCECC, a global subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), operates in over 110 countries and is known for large-scale infrastructure, railway, and energy projects worldwide.

Katsina State’s participation in the summit is expected to accelerate the state’s drive for modern infrastructure and global investment partnerships.
