As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu embarks on a two-day working visit to Katsina State, it is important for all citizens—regardless of political affiliations—to come out en masse and give him a rousing and dignified welcome. This is not just a political courtesy; it is a deep-rooted tradition of hospitality that the good people of Katsina are known for across Nigeria.

Katsina, fondly referred to as “Katsina ta Dikko, Dakin Kara”, has a proud history of embracing visitors with warmth, respect, and unity. Whether the visitor is a friend, a leader, or a political rival, our culture teaches us that hospitality supersedes partisanship. This tradition of welcoming dignitaries with open arms has long been a mark of our collective civility and pride as Katsinawa.

We commend His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, for hosting Mr. President and ensuring that this visit is not only impactful but also reflects the peaceful and progressive nature of Katsina State. Governor Radda’s commitment to development, security, and youth empowerment aligns with the broader vision of national growth, and this visit by the President is a testament to Katsina’s relevance on the national stage.

It is also important to note that giving our President a befitting reception should not be seen through the narrow lens of political party lines. Even in states where the governors are not members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), it is both democratic and patriotic to show respect to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Mr. President represents the unity and sovereignty of our nation, and his visit to any part of the country is a national affair.

As he comes to Katsina for important developmental engagements, we must set an example for the entire country by showing that Katsina is a land of peace, maturity, and unity. Let us demonstrate to the world that while politics may divide us during elections, nation-building is our collective responsibility, and respect for leadership is a mark of wisdom.

We therefore call on all sons and daughters of Katsina, from the city to the villages, the youth and elders, men and women, to come out in large numbers to welcome President Tinubu. Let our streets be filled with smiles, our hearts with hope, and our voices with prayers for a successful visit that brings progress to our state.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long live Katsina State.
Katsina ta Dikko, Dakin Kara!
