On Monday, March 14th, the people of Katsina State witnessed the swearing-in of 34 new Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen at a ceremony held at Muhammad Dikko Stadium.
Members of the Civil Defense, the Nigerian Police Force, military personnel, the Department of State Services (DSS), and various other security agencies were present at the event to manage the crowd and ensure the safety of the officials in attendance. Given the large turnout, it was nearly impossible to calm and control the crowd; however, thanks to their intelligence and peaceful coordination, the event was a success and free from violence.
The event also featured performances by several Hausa musicians who sang songs praising the government.
The event was graced by the presence of Katsina State Governor, Mal. Dikko Umaru Radda, and Deputy Governor, His Excellency Faruq Lawal. Notable dignitaries in attendance included the Grand Kadi of Katsina, Mal. Abdullazeez, Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, along with other distinguished guests.
The ceremony commenced with the arrival of Governor Mal. Umaru Radda and the APC Chairman. The opening prayer was led by the Grand Kadi of Katsina, Mal. Abdulazeez, followed by a welcoming address from Deputy Governor Mal. Faruq Lawal, HCIB. In his speech, he praised the development and progress achieved by the state government under its current administration. He encouraged the newly elected chairmen to continue their commendable work and urged them to remain dedicated and committed to serving the people, as they were elected for their benefit.
Following the speeches, the Grand Kadi of Katsina State administered the oath of office to the newly elected chairmen. The ceremony concluded with remarks from Governor Mal. Dikko Radda, who congratulated the chairmen and expressed gratitude to everyone in attendance.
