ACF Demands Compensation for Victims of Plateau Attacks

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep concern over the recent wave of attacks in Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, where many lives—including those of women and children—have been lost.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in areas affected by persistent banditry and violence.

"The people of the state are living in severe fear and insecurity, at a time when the cost of living is already unbearable. These killings must stop, and peace must be restored," the statement read, as reported by Channels Television.

The group also called for improved intelligence gathering and strengthened security operations to track, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the attacks.

Furthermore, the ACF demanded that adequate compensation be paid to families of those killed, and support provided for the injured.

Finally, the forum appealed to both federal and state governments to empower religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to promote dialogue and peaceful coexistence among conflicting groups.
