The Katsina State Government has provided financial support to victims of a tragic accident involving a security vehicle in Alhaji Yahuza community, Batagarawa Local Government Area. The intervention aims to ease the pain and hardship faced by the affected families.

The Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, led the distribution of the relief funds on behalf of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Batagarawa Local Government Secretariat.

The accident occurred recently when a security vehicle on official duty lost control in Alhaji Yahuza, along the Batsari road, striking a group of motorcyclists. The crash involved eight individuals, tragically claiming the lives of four while four others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Governor Radda immediately ordered a full investigation. Following the completion of the inquiry and identification of the victims, the state government allocated N5.6 million in assistance to the victims and their families.

According to Faskari, each family of the deceased received N1 million, while three of the injured victims received N200,000 each. The fourth injured victim, who spent a longer time in treatment, was given N500,000. Additionally, N500,000 was allocated to cover the cost of the damaged motorcycle involved in the accident.

Expressing sympathy on behalf of the government, Faskari emphasized that the support was not a compensation for the lives lost but a gesture of care and solidarity. “The Hausa people say, ‘Condolences do not heal the wound, but they soothe the pain.’ May God forgive those who lost their lives and grant full recovery to the injured,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of Batagarawa Local Government, Hon. Bala Garba Tsanni, expressed appreciation to Governor Radda for the timely intervention and support to the victims’ families, describing the gesture as a mark of responsible leadership.

Beneficiaries of the support commended the state government and offered prayers for Governor Radda, asking God to continue guiding him in leading the state with wisdom and compassion.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including the representative of the District Head of Ajiwa, Magaji Jino, the Director of Finance and Administration of the Local Government, the APC Local Government Chairman, and the Leader of the Council, among others.
