Forty days after the abduction of retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), he remains in captivity despite the payment of ransom, according to reports.

Sources indicate that a substantial amount was paid to secure his release after he was kidnapped on July 5. However, the kidnappers continued to delay, waiting a week after receiving the money before making further contact with his family. During the call, they reportedly demanded additional funds.

Initially, the abductors had demanded ₦250 million as ransom, but negotiations continued between them and the family.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Katsina Elders Forum (KEF) have urged the government and security forces to intensify efforts to secure the release of General Tsiga and others still in captivity.
