In a significant humanitarian effort during the holy month of Ramadan, the Member of the House of Representatives for Katsina Local Government, Hon. Sani Aliyu Dan Lami, has distributed 3,300 bags of rice to residents of his constituency.
The distribution ceremony took place on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Pragon Playground, located behind the Alhayyat Guest House in Katsina. The event was attended by key political figures and religious leaders, underscoring the importance of the initiative. Among the dignitaries present were the Chief of Staff to the Katsina State Government, Hon. Abdulkadir Nasir Andaje; Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina, Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa; Member of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Ali Abu Albaba; newly elected Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isa Miqdad Ad Saude; and the Chief Imam of Kofar Soro Jumu’ah Mosque.
During his address, Hon. Dan Lami emphasized that the initiative aimed to alleviate the economic burden on residents and ensure continued support for the underprivileged. “This distribution is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of our people. We understand the challenges faced by many families, and this is just one of several interventions we have planned,” he stated.
According to him, the food relief directly benefited approximately 3,300 individuals, with plans for additional assistance programs in the coming months.
Community members who attended the event lauded Hon. Dan Lami’s generosity, describing it as a timely intervention amid economic hardships. Many expressed their appreciation and prayed for his continued success in public service.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by political leaders in Katsina to support citizens through social welfare programs, particularly during religious seasons when economic strain is most pronounced.
