The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has expressed his full support for the creation of Karaduwa State from Katsina.

Speaking on Saturday, Jibrin, who chairs the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review, highlighted the region’s agricultural potential and affirmed that it deserves statehood.

He made the remarks in Funtua, Katsina State, during a Ramadan food distribution and public Empowerment event organized by Senator Muntari Dandutse, the lawmaker representing Katsina South.

“The creation of Karaduwa State is a noble idea and a strong aspiration of the people,” Jibrin stated. “This region is agriculturally rich and has all the necessary resources to become a state. However, constitutional requirements must be met. I respect their views and fully support them.”

He assured that he would do everything possible to help the people achieve their goal.

“I will do my best. Don't forget, we are neighbors. The district I represent in the Senate shares a border with this region, so I understand their needs,” Jibrin added.

During the event, Senator Dandutse listed the distributed relief materials, which included eight truckloads of rice, 5,439 bags of fertilizer, 3,795 bags of maize, 384 sewing machines, and 110 grinding machines to support local communities during Ramadan.

Also speaking at the gathering, Bala Abu-Musawa, Deputy Chairman of the APC in Katsina State, endorsed the call for Karaduwa State. He also commended Dandutse for his contributions, particularly in advocating for the establishment of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Funtua.
