Katsina Innovative Thinkers Initiative (KITI) in collaboration with Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MBASE) has hosted FOURTH ANNUAL, ABDUL MOHAMMED RAFINDADI (SAN) Quiz,debate and Essay Writing Competition among public, Community and Unity Secondary Schools in Katsina State
The final round of the debate competition with a Topic 'Does AI Poses Greater Threat Than Opportunity To Education' held at Family Support Secondary School in Katsina saw Hussaina Wada from Government Girls Secondary School, Mai'adua emerged overall winner of the competition
Husssina from the supporting side scored total of 226 which represented the average score of 88.7 percent to emerge overall scorer among all the contenders
Katsina Flash News reports that the final round of the competition was participated by 12 schools drawn from all the quality assurance zone of the state's ministry of basic and secondary education who competed for the top position.
The schools included Gafai Community Katsina, GGSS Bindawa, GPSS Kankia, FGGC Bakori, GGSS Mai'adua and GGSS Danrimi, Malumfashi.
They also included GDSS Barhim, Rimi, GDSS Tafoki, Faskari and GDSS Dutsinma and GGSS Sandamu, while the rest included GDSS Safana and GDSS Matazu.
After an intense contest, Government Girls Secondary School Mai'adua claimed the first position followed by GDSS Dutsinma and GGPSS Kankia in Second and Third places respectively, GDSS Bindawa came Fourth, while Gafai Community, Katsina finished Fifth.
"The competitition serves as a motivating flat form for children to actively aspire to became a chosen professionals with particular emphasis on becoming lawyers.
"Owing to the fact that we have paucity of lawyers coming from our northern states, I thought I have a duty to open for them that there is an opportunity, that is why we initiated this program", the convener, Abdul Mohammad Rafindadi (SAN) stated.
Abdul Rafindadi called on other successful personalities to emulate the gesture by giving back what the society has done to them.
"For those of us who have come and succeeded. we shall continue in all the means that we have been doing to give back to the people.
In her goodwill message at the occasion, the Katsina State commissioner of basic and secondary education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa appreciated the hard work and determination of the participating students at the debate competition.
"As we celebrate the talents and hard work of our exceptional students who have participated in this years contest, it is an honour to stand before you here today, saying the initiative assists aspiring lawyers by igniting their passion for the legal profession", Nasiru Dan Zaria who represented the commissioner, stated.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the state's administration 'building your future agenda' through nurturing next generation of leaders, thinkers and advocates.
The member representing Katsina Local Government at the State Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Albaba who graced the occasion commended Abdul Muhammad Rafindadi (SAN) for supporting the initiative through Katsina Innovative thinkers
Albaba who was impressed by the performances of the participating debaters donated huge cash prizes to the first, second, the third winner and to all the participating debaters.
Highlights of the event at it's climax included the presentation of cash prizes and awards to the winners and other stakeholders of the competition.
