The Katsina State Government has confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Murtala Sani Adeleke, Sarkin Yarbawan Funtua, as Sarkin Yarbawan Arewa, a prestigious title representing the Yaroba people across Northern Nigeria.  

The announcement was made on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, during a visit to the Katsina State Government House, where the official appointment letter was presented to Governor Dikko Umar Radda by Deputy Governor Malam Faruq Lawal Jobe.  

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Malam Faruq Lawal Jobe described the appointment as a remarkable milestone. "This is not only a victory for Alhaji Muntari Sani Adeleke but also a significant achievement for Katsina State and the Yarbawa people in Northern Nigeria," he said.  

The inauguration ceremony is set to take place in Abuja on February 15, 2025. Representatives from the Katsina State Government and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event, underscoring the importance of this historic recognition.  

A high-profile delegation accompanied Alhaji Murtala Sani Adeleke to the Katsina State Government House, including notable Yaroba leaders such as Engineer Muntari Alimi, Sarkin Yarbawan Kano, and Tajuddeen, head of the Sarkin Yarbawan Kano's office. Key figures from Katsina State, including Dr. Iro Musa Anda Funtua and Alhaji Ndanusa Yunusa Yakubu, Sarkin Nupawan Katsina, who also serves as the National Secretary of the Intertribal Association of Nigeria, were also part of the delegation.  

Alhaji Murtala Sani Adeleke's appointment as Sarkin Yarbawan Arewa is seen as a step toward fostering unity and strengthening intertribal relations in Northern Nigeria, reaffirming Katsina State's role as a center for cultural and ethnic harmony.
