NPC Chairman Visits Minister for Information to Strengthen Census Publicity Efforts

On 11th September 2024, the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister for Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the Ministry’s office in Abuja.

The visit aimed to inform the Honourable Minister about the forthcoming Population and Housing Census, formally present a nomination letter appointing him as Chairman of the National Publicity and Advocacy Committee, and highlight the critical role of the Committee in creating public awareness, sensitizing, and mobilizing Nigerians for the census exercise.

As co-Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Kwarra emphasized the importance of leveraging the Ministry's communication expertise to ensure the success of the census. The collaboration is seen as a significant step towards fostering an informed and engaged public ahead of the national exercise.

In response, the Honourable Minister accepted the chairmanship role and assured the full support of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in sensitizing and mobilizing Nigerians for the census.

Hon. Kwarra was accompanied by key officials, including the Federal Commissioner for Oyo State, Dr. Eyitayo Oyetunji; Director-General, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun; Acting Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba; Census Manager, Dr. Inuwa Jalingo; Special Assistant to the Chairman, Isiyaku Alhaji Husaini; and Protocol Officer, Mr. Azeez Amoo.

The visit underscored the NPC's commitment to effective collaboration and communication to ensure the success of the upcoming census, a vital process for Nigeria's development.
