Security on red alert as police deploy operatives over presidential tribunal judgement

In its bid to fortify security architecture and forestall any breakdown of law and order across the country as a result of the forthcoming Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Judgment scheduled to be passed on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the Nigeria Police Force said it has strengthened its deployment across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
Police spokesman, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi who made the disclosure noted that the Police wish to reiterate the commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the judgement.
According to him, “The NPF has diligently emplaced all necessary deployments and security measures during this critical period as officers and men are fully prepared to maintain order and enforce laws while respecting the rights and freedoms of all citizens.
“Furthermore, the NPF strongly cautions all individuals, including mischief makers and political gladiators, to be cautious in their actions and statements as the Force will not condone activities capable of inciting violence or causing a descent into anarchy.
“It is imperative for all citizens to embrace peace and maintain calm, regardless of their political affiliations, to ensure a peaceful and secure environment.
The Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to its duty of protecting and serving the Nigerian people and is committed to carrying out these roles with professionalism, impartiality, and utmost dedication.
“Together, we can ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all during this period.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, following the promotion of deserving officers to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police by the Police Service Commission, has ordered the posting and redeployment of seven DIGs to various departments.
Former FCT police boss, DIG Bala Ciroma has been redeployed to head the Department of Finance and Administration, DIG Frank Emeka Mba to the Department of Training and Development, and DIG Habu A. Sani, to head the Force Intelligence Bureau. Others are DIG Usman D. Nagogo to Department of Logistics and Supply, DIG Daniel Sokari-Pedro, to Department of Information and Communication Technology, DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje, to Department of Research and Planning, and DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji to head the Department of Operations.
According to Adejobi, “Similarly, the IGP has approved the posting of the following Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to the following Commands and Formations as indicated against their names. AIG Oladimeji Yomi Olanrewaju has been posted as the Force Secretary, AIG Yekini Adio Ayoku, to head the Police Mobile Force, AIG Idris Dabban Dauda, to Zone 16 Yenagoa, AIG Oyediran Adesoye Oyeyemi, to head the Police Cooperative, and AIG Benjamin Okolo Nebeolisa, to AIG Department of ICT.
“Furthermore, the IGP charges the newly posted and redeployed senior officers to entrench professionalism in their respective Departments, Commands, and Formations while prioritizing human security and people-centric policing services.”
