Katsina Police Thwart Bandit Raid, Recover Weapon

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the successful thwarting of a bandit attack in Gidan Dan Ali village, Ketare district, Kankara Local Government Area. During the operation, one bandit was killed, and an AK47 rifle was recovered.

According to the police spokesperson, Sadiq Abubakar, the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, around 1:05 AM. Following reports of bandit attacks from the Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kankara, CSP Iliyasu Ibrahim, led a team of police officers, in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and Vigilante Group, to the scene.

The team pursued the bandits to Bulunkuza village in the Tudun Wada district of Kankara, engaging in a fierce gunfight, which forced the bandits to flee.

Upon searching the area, the team discovered the body of a slain bandit and recovered an AK47 rifle.

Katsina State Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the bravery and expertise of the officers involved. He urged the public to continue reporting any criminal activities to the police for prompt action.
