Dr. Tukur Hassan: Reformed At Katsina State Water Board

Most of Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s appointments have been described as square pegs in square holes. Nothing could be as true as they above statement in relation to the appointment of Dr. Tukur Hassan Tingilin, PhD, as the Managing Director of the State Water Board. Dr. Tingling’s impressive CV made him more than qualified to serve in the water resources sector particularly considering the level of systemic  inefficiency inherited by the Radda administration in the sector.

These included an obsolete water generation, sanitation and distribution system and several uncompleted projects that range from the piping and connection of distribution channels of the federal government’s Zobe dam project to communities in Katsina  and environs, damaged water piping system within Katsina metropolis, and the acute water shortage in almost all major towns in this state.

With decades of experience in practical engineering, lecturing, administration, and educational background Dr. Tingilin was poised to bring about the needed efficiency and transformation in the sector.

In recognition of his exceptional skills and expertise, the Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda appointment Engr. Tukur Hassan as Managing Director of the Katsina State Water Board in June 2023, a position which he has since then held with upmost, commitment, dedication, trust and the fear of God.

From that period to date, Katsina State Water Board has embarked on projects that have started reflecting in the availability of on water in many parts of Katsina metropolis as other projects are ongoing which include the replacement of old rusted and worn out pipes that lead to leeches and inefficiency in the water supply chain.

He was appointed in June 2023, a position which he has since then held with upmost, commitment, dedication, trust and the fear of God. From that period to date, Katsina State Water Board has embarked on projects that have started yielding results in terms of the availability of water in many parts of Katsina metropolis while other projects are ongoing which include the replacement of old, rusted and worn out pipes that lead to waste in the water supply chain.



The board is also working with the mother ministry the minister of water resources to explore more water supply sources to boost the distribution and supply chain both within carcinoma metropolis and other major towns across the state.

This is in addition to efforts at installing prepaid water meters to ease the payment of water bills by residents and clients across the water distribution chain, among other feats so far achieved by the board within the period.
