The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has assured commitment towards actualising the mission of building a vibrant Nigerian Senate.

The Senate President gave the assurance at a grand reception organised by Yar'adua family in honour of the Son of Senator Abdul'aziz Musa Yar'adua of Katsina Central Muhammad Abdul'aziz Yar'adua who wedded Fatima ( Shahira) Mahmood on Friday in Abuja.

He pointed out wether people like it or not it is just an early beginning, adding that the Senate is also gender sensitive by introducing the Senator representing FCT Senator Kingibe that attended the grand reception.

Senator Akpabio recalled that when he was struggling to become the President of the Senate, all the three Senators from Katsina State were with him. This according to him was because Katsina happens to be his second home , claiming that Akwa Ibom and Katsina States were created the same day and tagged as Twin brothers which at the same time prosper due to good governance they enjoyed initially.

He therefore claimed to be part and parcel of Katsina State on one way and a member of Yar'adua family on the other side, revealing the historic relationship that emanated since the day in memoriam when he was at the Military Training School and Late General Shehu Musa Yar'adua was a Governor at that time and the good relationship with their Mother Hajia Dada.

The Senate President linked this relationship with his ADC CSP Shehu from Katsina when he was the Governor of Akwa Ibom and now as President of the Senate interpreting the conversation between him and Hajia Dada whenever he visited her in Katsina.

Senator Akpabio therefore urged people of Katsina State and other Nigerians to continue prayibg for Nigeria to prosper and prayed for Allah blessing to the new wedded couples.

The Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau was also not left behind in gracing the historic event and described the father of the Bride Groom Senator Abdul'aziz Musa Yar'adua as transparent, trustworthy, easy going, philanthropist and very religious in nature.

Senator Barau Jibrin who also prayed Allah to bless the couple, cited example of his Constituency Kano North and Katsina State as brothers and assured to strengthen the relationship.

Earlier, the father of the Bride Groom Senator Abdul'aziz Musa Yar'adua said the Senate has made a history as the former Senator now the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood as Waliy at the Wedding Fatihah of his son Muhammad A Yar'adua .

Senator Abdul'aziz Yar'adua similarly said the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio graced the occasion and his Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin physically at the National Mosque to represent President of the Senate and the Nigerian Senate.

While thanking all and sundry, Senator Yar'adua noted the long term contribution of the Senate President to his family.

Other important dignitories that attended the grand reception include Senators, repeesentatives of Chiefs of Army, Naval and Air Staff, Engineer Jack Rich, Engineer Nuhu Dallaji, Princess Gloria Okopundo, his 1976 Classmates at Military Training School and Coursemates in the Army.

Others are Prof. LT.Col Ibrahim Surajo Imam, Hon. Ibrahim Matazu, Hon. Jabiru Yau -Yau, Alhaji Mustapha Musa Yar'adua, Katsina Central APC Zonal Vice Chairman and Zonal Women Leader respectively, all LG APC Chairmen and all LG Coordinators to the Senator.

Others are Engineer Surajo Yazid Abukur, Alhaji Abdul'aziz Mamman, Alhaji Tanimu Garba, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Saulawa, Alhaji Ahmadu Charanchi, Alhaji Umar Faruk AK, Alhaji Umaru Mati, Alhaji Yusuf Musa and Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi BK.
