Election is like a court verdict over a case that has been presented before a Judge. However, while the court is presided over by a Judge or panel of Judges that could hardly exceed 10 persons, the judges of election run into  multiple figures that can be up to millions, depending on the elective position being contested for.  As Judges go through the evidences presented by both plaintiffs and defendants that of election focus attention on the integrity of the person standing for the election and his relationship with electorate as well as his performance if the person is already occupying an elective position.

In Katsina State, the 2027 election is being contested by a number of parties and their candidates for the various posts.  But the major gladiators are those under APC, ADC, and PDP and to some extent the APM has managed to get a space because it’s Vice Presidential candidate is from the State.

Looking at the gubernatorial hopefuls, Ahmad Babba Kaita of ADC, Yakubu Lado Danmarke of PDP and the sitting Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda Phd of APC, one would accept each of them as a capable hand politically, that has an idea of running the State.  Dikko Umar Radda was a Local Government Chairman in Charanchi, a Party official at National Level, a Chief of Staff at Katsina Government House, a Government appointee at the Federal level and now the Governor of Katsina State.  Ahmad Babba Kaita was a member House of Representatives and later a Senator while Yakubu Lado was a Local Government Chairman in Kankara, a member of the House of Representatives and also a Senator at the Nigerian Senate.

Given their experience in politics they all have something to showcase before the electorate in Katsina State.  It is only that, Dikko Radda could have an edge over them because he happens to be the sitting Governor that is apportioned to carryout activities that can be shown as a mark of achievements in his three years of stewardship as the State Governor under which many have given him a pass mark.

The National Chairman of Katsina and Daura Emirates Association Alhaji Aliyu BalaDaura has said in a studio interview with National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) Katsina State Chapter that although present Governors under Tinubu Administration have gotten high allocation from the Federation Account, Dikko Radda has made good use of what he was given in the area of Developmental Projects.  He explained that they have been to other states, but what they saw there were for less than what Dikko Radda was doing despite the allocations they were also getting.  He pointed out that when compared to previous administrations in Katsina State, none of them did as such as Dikko on an aggregate of projects execution within the account period and time of equality as Governor.

Before we take a glance at what Dikko Radda has done that can guarantee his re-election, we may wish to reflect on the party strength of the major political parties that have fielded Gubernatorial Candidates in the State.  The ADC started well with leading politicians like Senator Sadiq Yar’adua,Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita, Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura, though not a politician for long, but has made name as a national figure in the country and a host of others.  But politics being what it is, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa and Lawal Musa Daura have left, while Sadiq Yar’adua does not appear to be that active.  As for the PDP, it looks like apart from Yakubu Lado as the Gubernatorial candidate and Senator Umar Ibrahim Tsauri who was a one time National Secretary of the Party, others are either new entrants who still need time to make political impact or those whose influence is limited to their localities which could do very little a gubernatorial seat.

After all, come to think of it, the ADC and PDP are only sharing votes given to PDP by electorate in 2023, because the ADC is more of a PDP split group, which attracted part of the PDP members to it.  To some degree of observation, both the PDP and ADC put together had one of their broken pillars back into the APC thereby making them vulnerable to election losses at the elective positions across board.

Dikko Radda of APC has so much to show as stated by a Dutsinma Local Government based politician Alhaji Hamza Abdullahi Sabon Garin Safana who also told National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) Katsina State Chapter in a studio interview, that Governor Radda has touched everywhere and everything, stressing that with development and beautification of the State Capital and other Katsina Mega cities, his attention is now on rural areas.  One would equally consider that apart from Dikko being a sitting Governor and his Democratic lieutenants, personalities such as Ibrahim Shema for Governor of Katsina State, serving Senators, Members of House of Representatives, Members of the State Assembly, Local Government Chairmen and Councilors and the stabilization of Katsina based Business Mogul and Politician Alhaji Dahiru Mangal within the APC are factors that even those in the opposition parties believed are rocks that could block their routes to victory.

Attempting to mention what Dikko Radda has done within his three years period of stewardship would force many readers to abandon this article because of its length.  Bur in summary, I would like to state that  Dikko Radda has done so much in different sectors which were known by the indigenes of Katsina State.  Vice President Kashim Shettima was in Katsina last year to commission a dialysis centre and some other projects.  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also in Katsina last year where he commissioned Tractors Assembling Plants, a ring road and other projects.  Vice President Kashim Shettima was again in Katsina early this month of October, 2026 and commissioned dual carried Road Projects and other projects executed by Governor Dikko Radda’a administration in line with the “Building your Future Agenda”.

One would be free to say with any fear of contradiction that, the Katsina State Security Watch Corps that was three years by 10th October this year 2026 after its inauguration on the 10th of October, 2023 has assisted in improving relative peace, despite the odds being recorded nowadays without them the situation would have been worse.

The Education, Health, Agriculture, Water, Environment, Social developments and other degrees of empowerment, payment of salaries, pension, gratuities and other entitlements have been the hallmark of Dikko Radda’a administration which would attract cool votes for his re-election in 2027, as the Governor of Katsina State for 2nd tenure.
