Katsinatimes — 4 October 2026

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has commissioned 11.2 kilometres of road projects and launched 230 mass transit vehicles in Katsina State as part of efforts to improve urban infrastructure and public transportation.

The projects include the dualised 4.8km Kofar Sauri–Central Mosque Roundabout Road, 2.4km Central Police Station Junction–Kofar Kaura Underpass Road and 4km Filin Polo–Ring Road.

Shettima also launched 30 CNG hybrid buses and 200 electric tricycles during his one-day official visit to the state.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda said the projects were part of 12 major urban renewal road projects being implemented in Katsina metropolis.

Radda said more than 240km of urban and rural roads had been covered through ongoing infrastructure projects across the state, aimed at improving access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other communities.

He said the hybrid buses would operate in Katsina, Daura and Funtua, while 500 electric tricycles are planned for deployment across the state.

The governor said the initiative would promote cleaner transportation and create opportunities in electric vehicle maintenance, charging infrastructure and technical services.

He added that the state government was also providing terminals, workshops and 40 modern bus stops equipped with facilities including Wi-Fi and solar inverter systems.

The governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Shettima for supporting infrastructure and economic development initiatives in Katsina.
