NUC Approves Four New Degree Programmes for Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment and commencement of four new full-degree programmes at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University (UMYU), Katsina.

The approval followed a successful resource verification visit conducted by the NUC to assess the university’s readiness in terms of academic staff, infrastructure, teaching and learning facilities, equipment, library resources and other requirements necessary for effective delivery of the programmes.

The newly approved programmes are:

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

B.Sc. Mass Communication

B.Sc. Public Relations

According to the university, the development marks another significant milestone in its continuous efforts to expand its academic programmes and provide students with opportunities to pursue professional and relevant courses that respond to contemporary societal and national development needs.

The university also said the approval demonstrates its commitment to meeting the regulatory standards of the NUC.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, expressed appreciation to the NUC for the approval and commended the Katsina State Government for its support.

He also appreciated the University’s Governing Council, staff, students and other stakeholders whose contributions facilitated the successful resource verification exercise.

Professor Shehu reaffirmed the university management’s commitment to sustaining the required standards and providing the necessary facilities and academic environment for the successful implementation of the newly approved programmes.
