Why Katsina Governor’s ADC, CSO Were Detained in Abuja

For several days, reports and speculation have been circulating that the Katsina State Governor’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Hassan Bello, and the Governor’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) had been detained at the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.

Investigations by Katsina Times have established that the two security officers are indeed in the custody of security agencies in Abuja.

The investigation also revealed that the Chief of Staff to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Nasir, travelled to Abuja in an attempt to secure their release, but his efforts were unsuccessful.

A source further disclosed that even the Katsina State Governor made efforts to secure the release of the two officers responsible for his personal security, but those efforts have so far been unsuccessful.

What Happened?

There are several large billboards along the road from the Modoji roundabout to the Katsina State Government House. The billboards carry various political messages and photographs of the Katsina State Governor, the President, the Vice President and other political figures.

Investigations by Katsina Times revealed that some of the billboards were found vandalised, including some displaying photographs of the President and his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.

Following the vandalism, particularly of the billboards carrying the President’s photographs, complaints were reportedly lodged with the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Katsina Times further learnt that security operatives arrested a man alleged to be the leader of a faction of a political group in Katsina, identified as Aminu Sanda, popularly known as Aminu Nasta.

Following his arrest, it is alleged that information he provided led security operatives to invite the Katsina Governor’s two security officers for questioning.

As of the time of filing this report, the two officers remained in custody in Abuja over allegations that they had knowledge of the incident or may have assisted in protecting those suspected of vandalising the billboards bearing the President’s photographs.

However, a major question remains unanswered: What exactly happened, and what connection, if any, do the Governor’s security officers have with the vandalism of the billboards?
