Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has named the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, signaling a significant political shift from the Muslim-Muslim ticket that powered his victory in the 2023 polls.
The announcement marks a new chapter in the governor’s political strategy as he seeks re-election, with the choice of Adams widely seen as a move aimed at strengthening inclusiveness and broadening representation across Kaduna’s diverse communities.
Speaking on the nomination, Governor Sani said the decision was guided by the principles of inclusion, justice, fairness and equitable representation, which he described as central to his administration’s vision for the state.
According to the governor, Adams possesses the qualities required to support the next phase of Kaduna’s development agenda, citing his track record in public service, institutional reforms and revenue administration.
Sani praised the KADIRS chairman as an accomplished public servant and institution builder whose leadership has played a pivotal role in enhancing the state’s internally generated revenue and strengthening fiscal management.
He noted that the nomination reflects his commitment to building a Kaduna State where merit, competence and character remain the defining standards for leadership and public service.
The governor further stressed that the decision underscores his belief that every resident of Kaduna State should have a genuine sense of belonging in government, regardless of background or affiliation.
“Jerry Adams embodies the values and experience needed to advance our vision of a united, peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State,” Sani said, adding that the choice was made with the long-term interests of the state in mind.
Adams, who holds the professional titles of Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM) and Certified National Accountant (CNA), is expected to bring extensive expertise in public finance, taxation and institutional development to the governor’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Political observers say the nomination could reshape conversations around representation and inclusivity in Kaduna politics, while positioning the governor’s ticket as one focused on balancing competence with broader stakeholder participation.
