Katsina Inaugurates New Kannywood Guild Leadership, Honours Industry Veterans

The Kannywood Film Industry Guilds Associations of Nigeria (KAFIGAN) has inaugurated its newly elected Katsina State executive committee and honoured distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions to the growth of the Kannywood film industry during a colourful ceremony held in Katsina.


The inauguration took place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Old Katsina State Government House, attracting stakeholders from across the entertainment industry as well as guests from Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states.


The event was attended on behalf of the national leadership by the National Secretary of KAFIGAN, Comrade Lawal Rabe Lemoo, who represented the National President, Hon. Adamu Bello Aliyu, who was unable to attend the ceremony.


In his address, Comrade Lawal reaffirmed the association's commitment to strengthening professionalism, unity and collaboration within the Kannywood industry. He also formally presented the association's constitution and certificate of recognition to the newly inaugurated Katsina State Coordinator, Aminu Musa Bukar, symbolising the official recognition of the state chapter under the national body.


The oath of office for the new executive members was administered by Barrister Suleman Abdullahi.

Among those inaugurated into various positions were Aminu Musa Bukar as State Coordinator, Yasir Abubakar as Secretary, alongside executive members including Hassana Muhammad, Ibrahim Shehu, Auwal Bishir (Malan A), Abdullahi Sani (Dutsinma), Ibrahim Suleman Sheme, Yahanasu Ahmad, Kabir Ali, Abdul Musa, Husaina Muhammad, Suleman Isyaku (Rosy), Aisha Lawal (Nayaya), Lawal Sa'idu (Washasha), Ahmadu Sadisu, and Shamsu Isa (Dijango).


The ceremony also featured an award presentation recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Kannywood. Honourees included veteran actor Aminu Dagash, renowned film director Aminu Mannir, and musician who also serves as Special Assistant to the Katsina State Governor on Entertainment, among other distinguished personalities.


Goodwill messages were delivered by several guests, including the Kano State Coordinator, Isah A. Isa, while the Permanent Secretary of the Katsina State Ministry of Information and Culture, Alhaji Tukur Dan'ali, represented the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, commending the association's efforts to promote creativity and preserve the cultural identity of Northern Nigeria through film.


In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated State Coordinator, Aminu Musa Bukar, expressed appreciation to the national leadership and members for the confidence reposed in the new executive. He pledged to work towards promoting professionalism, unity and the welfare of practitioners in the Katsina chapter while advancing the growth of the Kannywood industry.


The event concluded with entertainment performances by musicians and comedians, providing an atmosphere of celebration as members and guests marked the beginning of a new leadership for KAFIGAN in Katsina State.
