GOVERNMENT HOUSE, KATSINA

PRESS RELEASE

The Katsina State Government has championed bold initiatives aimed at combating climate change, following recent deliberations of the Katsina State Climate Change Council.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has directed that all future road construction projects in the state must include dedicated spaces for tree planting, with the 24-kilometre Eastern Bye Pass Road currently under construction set to be the first beneficiary of this initiative.

"Tree planting along our roads will be implemented preferably at the beginning of the rainy season to ensure the survival of the plants. This will not only provide much-needed shade but will significantly contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions across our state," stated the Governor.

The Governor also announced a substantial increase in the prize money for the SALLAH CLIMATE CHANGE COMPETITION.

The Governor also declared that the top three winners will be honoured and presented with certificates at the upcoming summit in Abuja, where the Katsina Green Growth Agenda will be unveiled.

The initiative further reaffirms Katsina State's commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action.
