The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hinted at possible disciplinary action against members accused of working against its interests, with party chieftain Emmanuel Ogidi singling out the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid the party’s lingering internal crisis.

Ogidi issued the warning on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, where he accused some members of undermining the party from within and insisted that the PDP would no longer tolerate indiscipline.

According to him, the party has moved beyond the demands presented by Wike’s camp and is now focused on addressing what he described as internal sabotage.

The PDP chieftain argued that the party belonged to its members and supporters rather than any individual or faction, warning that no member should expect to operate against its interests without consequences.

“You can't serve two masters. He (Wike) is supposed to be serving us in PDP but he is serving APC. This is a threat to democracy. APC is using him to destroy democracy and it's deliberate but we are very conscious of that and very soon you will hear what will happen,” Ogidi said.

He maintained that the party was prepared to take action against members found guilty of violating its rules, stressing that efforts to reconcile aggrieved factions should not be mistaken for an acceptance of indiscipline.

His remarks signal a tougher stance by some PDP leaders as the party continues to grapple with internal disagreements, legal battles, defections and disputes over zoning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Despite the challenges, Ogidi expressed confidence in the PDP's ability to overcome its difficulties, describing the party as strong and capable of surviving the current turbulence.

He said the party's immediate priority was to ensure a successful national convention as it works to strengthen its position ahead of the next electoral cycle.

However, with tensions between rival camps still unresolved, the prospect of disciplinary measures could introduce another flashpoint in the party's struggle to restore unity and establish a clear direction before 2027.
