Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed a suspected terrorist and rescued six attempted kidnap victims in separate operations in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
The operations, conducted on September 26, 2026, also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and other items, according to the task force.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 acted on intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops raided the location and encountered a suspected terrorist, who was subsequently killed, the task force said in a statement issued on Sunday by its Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja.
An AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, clothing and other items were recovered from the scene, according to the statement.
In a separate operation in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops responded to information about an attempted abduction involving members of the Sarkin Samari’s family.
The troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes, while six people targeted in the attempted abduction were rescued.
The task force said the rescued victims were taken to safety pending their reunification with their families.
It urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in their communities.
