Alolo, Two Others Appointed to Run Affairs Pending Election

The Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has appointed a three-member caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the newly established Online Media Chapel in the state, pending the conduct of an election.
Those appointed are Alhaji Abubakar Shafi’i Alolo, Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Media Crew, as Acting Chairman; Mustapha Saddiq of Katsina Post, as Acting Secretary; and Zaharaddeen Ishaq of Katsina Times, as Acting Treasurer.
The appointments are aimed at ensuring effective administration of the chapel while strengthening unity among online media practitioners and promoting professionalism, coordination and ethical standards in digital journalism.
As Acting Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Shafi’i Alolo is expected to focus on strengthening collaboration among members, enhancing the professional capacity of digital media practitioners and promoting adherence to ethical standards in the gathering and dissemination of accurate and credible information.
The caretaker committee is also expected to work closely with other officials and members of the chapel to achieve its objectives and further promote professionalism and the reputation of journalism in Katsina State.
The development comes at a time when online media platforms are playing an increasingly significant role in the dissemination of news and information to the public, particularly through social media and other digital communication channels.
