President Bola Tinubu has congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the by-elections held across five constituencies in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won four of the five seats, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) secured one constituency.
The APC candidates declared winners include Kallamu MaiJama’a, who won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat in Gombe State; Husseini Datti, winner of the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency seat in Kano State; Okolosi Ator, who won the Udu State Constituency seat in Delta State; and Yakubu Ali, winner of the Disina State Constituency seat in Bauchi State.
The Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi State was won by Adamu Yakubu of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
President Tinubu said the outcome of the elections reflected continued support for the APC and expressed confidence that the elected representatives would deliver effective service to their constituents.
“I am encouraged by the support Nigerians at the grassroots continue to show for our party and for the difficult but necessary reforms our administration has implemented over the past three years,” Tinubu was quoted as saying.
The President urged the newly elected lawmakers to justify the confidence placed in them by providing committed and effective representation.
He also called on other candidates who participated in the elections to accept the results in good faith and continue contributing to Nigeria’s democratic process.
Tinubu commended voters, security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a peaceful conduct of the polls.
