Hundreds of residents of Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State on Saturday held a reception in honour of the state’s Deputy Governor, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe, following his re-nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for deputy governor in the 2027 election.

The event, held in Kankara town on August 15, 2026, attracted various groups from the local government who gathered to express their support for Jobe and congratulate him on securing the party’s ticket for a second term.

Speaking at the event, Jobe expressed appreciation for the honour, saying the gesture had strengthened his resolve to continue serving the people and fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him.

He also said the APC was gaining wider support, including from members of opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who he said were defecting to the APC.

According to him, the development indicated that the APC was well positioned to achieve a stronger electoral performance in the 2027 elections than it recorded in the previous polls.

Jobe also highlighted some of the achievements of the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda in the past three years, saying development projects had been implemented across the state’s 361 wards.

He thanked Governor Radda for choosing him again as his running mate, saying the decision would enable them to continue working together for a second term.

Also speaking, Katsina State APC Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Bala Abubakar Musawa, commended Jobe for what he described as loyalty and commitment, saying these qualities were among the reasons Governor Radda chose to retain him as his deputy.

Musawa said Governor Radda was not known for making hasty decisions, adding that his decision to retain Jobe demonstrated the confidence he had in him.

“Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, you have proved that you are a loyal and trustworthy person. You have made the people of Kankara and the entire Funtua zone proud. We wish you well and pray that God continues to guide you,” Musawa said.

Other speakers at the event included the Kankara Local Government APC chairman and a leader of defectors from opposition parties to the APC.

Former PDP Deputy Chairman for Funtua Zone, Hon. Abu Lawal Kankara; Hon. Ishaq Bashir Kankara; and the Kankara Local Government Education Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Sani Kankara, were also among those who attended the event.

Participants expressed satisfaction with Governor Radda’s decision to retain Jobe, describing him as a son of Kankara who had demonstrated loyalty, integrity and trustworthiness in the discharge of his duties.
