‘Not a Kobo Borrowed’: Radda Reveals How Katsina Delivered N30bn Projects While Paying Salaries

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has revealed that his administration has delivered development projects valued at over N30 billion without resorting to borrowing, while maintaining regular payment of workers’ salaries and retirees’ pensions.

The governor said the feat underscores his administration’s commitment to prudent financial management, fiscal discipline and sustainable development, despite the economic challenges confronting many states across the country.

Radda made the disclosure during the Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027 Islamiyya Teachers’ Empowerment Programme, the commissioning of educational facilities and the virtual inauguration of 45 solar-powered streetlights at the Continental Events and Sports Complex in Katsina.

Speaking at the event, the governor stressed that his administration had deliberately stayed away from loans in financing government projects, insisting that the state remained capable of executing critical infrastructure and social interventions through careful management of available resources.

According to him, Katsina has continued to implement its development agenda without compromising its responsibility to workers and pensioners.

“Today, there is no sector where we are taking a loan to execute a single project in Katsina State. At the same time, we are paying pensions and fulfilling our obligations to the people,” he said.

Radda attributed the state’s growing capacity to undertake major projects to reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, noting that the policies had strengthened the financial standing of states and enhanced their ability to meet both developmental and recurrent commitments.

The governor, who described himself as a prudent manager of public resources, challenged citizens to judge governments based on visible projects and measurable results rather than political propaganda, misinformation or unfounded criticism.

He maintained that public office holders must remain accountable to the people by delivering on campaign promises and ensuring that governance is driven by integrity and trust.

“Once leaders make promises to the people, they have a responsibility to fulfil those promises. Leadership is built on trust, not deception,” he stated.

Radda also called on corporate organisations, philanthropists and community groups to partner with government in addressing developmental challenges, arguing that sustainable progress requires collective efforts beyond what government alone can provide.

Earlier, former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, defended the achievements of both the state and Federal Government, describing critics who ignore ongoing development projects as unfair and insincere.

Masari pointed to major infrastructure initiatives being executed by the Federal Government, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other strategic road networks, saying such projects would boost economic activities, improve connectivity and strengthen agricultural production across the country.

Also speaking, the Director-General of Tinubu/Dikko Assured, Hon. Umar Ahmed Zayyad, said the organisation’s programmes were inspired by the leadership style and development vision of President Tinubu and Governor Radda.

Zayyad noted that the execution of projects worth over N30 billion without borrowing reflected the administration’s determination to pursue development through responsible governance and efficient use of public resources.

He urged residents to sustain their support for government programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding opportunities and enhancing the welfare of citizens across Katsina State.
