Motorists plying the Kano–Katsina highway have been advised to brace for temporary traffic diversions as construction work on an ongoing railway project continues at Dawanau, along the busy corridor.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, announced the diversion on Friday, urging road users to adhere strictly to designated alternative routes and traffic regulations to ensure safety and smooth movement.

The Sector Commander, Idris Mohammed-Lawal, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Kano through the Command’s Public Education Officer, Abdullahi Labaran.

According to the FRSC, motorists travelling from Kano to Katsina should continue their journey via the Kano–Daura Road and use the approved diversion points to reconnect with the Katsina Road.

Similarly, travellers coming from Katsina and Bichi towards Kano have been directed to take the designated diversion before reaching Dawanau and proceed through the Daura–Miltara–Kano route.

Mohammed-Lawal appealed to motorists and other road users to remain calm, patient and cooperative while navigating the affected sections of the road.

He further urged drivers to comply with all traffic rules and regulations, maintain approved speed limits, and follow instructions from FRSC personnel and other traffic management officials deployed along the diversion routes.

The sector commander acknowledged that the temporary traffic arrangement could cause some inconvenience but stressed that the measure was necessary to facilitate the ongoing railway construction and improve transportation infrastructure in the region.

He also expressed appreciation to members of the motoring public for their understanding and cooperation as work progresses on the project.
