The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced plans to conduct a live firing exercise for cadets of its 76 Regular Course, urging residents around the training area to stay away for safety.

In a statement issued in Kaduna, the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya, said the exercise, codenamed “Elementary Application of Fire,” will hold from April 23 to April 25 at the NDA Open Range in Afaka.

He explained that the training would involve both daytime and nighttime firing drills.

Kovangiya assured residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya and the wider Afaka area that comprehensive safety measures had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

He, however, advised members of the public to avoid the range area and refrain from trespassing throughout the duration of the exercise.

The NDA spokesman appealed for public cooperation and strict adherence to all safety directives.
