The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Aliyu Sani, for allegedly impersonating an armed criminal and attempting to rob a resident using a toy pistol in Katsina metropolis.

The arrest was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who said the suspect was apprehended on August 22, 2026, in the Kofar Sauri area of Katsina.

According to the statement, police received a report at about 7:00 p.m. that a young man was pursuing an unidentified individual while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm and allegedly attempting to rob the victim.

Acting on the information, police operatives, in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group, swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested the suspect around 8:00 p.m.

The command said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a black toy pistol, which he was allegedly using during the incident.
