SGS Represents Governor Radda at Book Launch on Governance and Security Challenges

The Secretary to the Government of the State Abdullahi Garba Faskari, represented Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, CON, at the launch of a book addressing governance and security challenges in Nigeria. The event took place at Hill Site Hotel, Katsina, and was organized to commemorate the second anniversary of Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar's appointment as the Sardaunan Katsina. The ceremony was graced by prominent figures from academia, government, and traditional institutions.
The book, titled *"Traditional Institutions and the Challenges of Governance and Security in Contemporary Nigeria,"* compiles lectures delivered by distinguished scholars during the first anniversary celebration of Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar's appointment on December 30, 2023. Notable attendees included representatives of Prof. Attahiru Jega, CFR, and Prof. M.D. Suleiman. Ambassador Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, GCON, Baraden Besse, presided over the event and delivered the keynote address.
A central paper, titled *"Politics and Religion in Northern Nigeria: The Ulama in a Changing Political Landscape,"* was presented by Prof. Muhammad Sani Umar, a renowned historian. His presentation highlighted the critical role of religious scholars in political and societal development.
Panel discussions featured insights from scholars such as Prof. Yusuf Abdullahi of the University of Jos and Prof. Mansur Ibrahim Mukhtar of Northwest University, Kano, who provided expert perspectives on various dimensions of governance and security.
In his remarks, Prof. Shehu Salisu Muhammad, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Umaru Musa Yar'adua University (UMYU), emphasized the integration of traditional values with modern governance systems. The program opened with special prayers by Alhaji Khalilu Musa Kofar-Bai and concluded with closing prayers by Mallam Ahmad Bello Wali, who commended the organizers and offered reflections on the significance of the event.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Hon. Engineer Bala Almu Banye, FNSE, Zarman Katsina, who expressed gratitude to attendees and contributors for ensuring the event’s success.
This occasion not only celebrated intellectual contributions but also underscored the urgent need to address governance and security challenges facing contemporary Nigeria.
